Elle s\u2019inscrit dans la tradition du paysage, de Patinir \u00e0 C\u00e9zanne, de Van Gogh \u00e0 Alex Katz, paysage terrestre, lacustre ou marin, paysage de neige, de campagne ou de d\u00e9sert. \u00a0<br>Elle joue des dimensions de la toile, monumentale ou de petit format. Elle est figurative mais pousse jusqu\u2019aux limites de l\u2019abstraction certaines zones peintes, passant ainsi du r\u00e9el \u00e0 l\u2019imaginaire. Elle use de toutes les ressources de la couleur. Elle part d\u2019images glan\u00e9es sur certains sites d\u2019archives, souvent des vid\u00e9os amateurs ou publicitaires vantant les attraits de sites touristiques. \u00ab Je cherche d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part, pr\u00e9cise l\u2019artiste, une certaine instabilit\u00e9, un sujet de nature avec un \u00e9l\u00e9ment fort du paysage pour qu\u2019une figure puisse trouver sa place dans le territoire \u00bb. \u00a0<br>Il est donc ici question de nature, de terre et m\u00eame de g\u00e9ologie. Des toiles comme <em>Bonenza<\/em> (2018) ou <em>Kabangama<\/em> (2021), par exemple, affichent de mani\u00e8re frontale d\u2019immenses plans de roches aux strates color\u00e9es. Celles-ci se superposent comme un mille-feuilles, s\u2019imbriquent les unes aux autres, puis se courbent, se transforment en vagues puissantes. Dans leur \u00e9paisseur de mati\u00e8re, on d\u00e9c\u00e8le le travail de la spatule, du racloir. Dans leur mouvement, on reconna\u00eet le geste tournant, arbitraire, puissant, qui rend solide la vague et liquide la pierre.\u00a0<br>\u00c0 la question de savoir d\u2019o\u00f9 vient son go\u00fbt de la g\u00e9ologie, Marine Wallon r\u00e9pond qu\u2019elle se souvient d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9s d\u2019enfance o\u00f9 elle recherchait des fossiles dans la Dr\u00f4me, qu\u2019elle a photographi\u00e9 lors d\u2019un \u00e9change culturel aux \u00c9tats-Unis le Glen Canyon \u00ab un explos\u00e9 de couleurs \u00bb, qu\u2019elle s\u2019int\u00e9resse aux d\u00e9formations subies par les roches. \u00ab Cela fait plusieurs ann\u00e9es que je sens dans la g\u00e9ologie structurale un parall\u00e8le avec les tensions et vibrations que je recherche dans la peinture \u00bb, ajoute-t-elle. Et c\u2019est vrai qu\u2019il y a une musicalit\u00e9, une chor\u00e9graphie, dans les peintures de Marine Wallon o\u00f9 la mati\u00e8re s\u2019\u00e9tire, devient fluide, o\u00f9 la composition s\u2019amuse des plong\u00e9es et des contre-plong\u00e9es, o\u00f9 le geste se poursuit au-del\u00e0 des limites de la toile. It is inscribed in the landscape tradition, from Patinir to C\u00e9zanne, from Van Gogh to Alex Katz. Plain, forest, lake or sea, landscapes that are snowy, bucolic or desert-like. She plays on the dimensions of the canvas, from monumental to small format. She is figurative but pushes certain painted areas to the limits of abstraction, shifting from reality to the imaginary. She uses all the resources of colour. She starts with images gleaned from archive site, often amateur videos or advertisements touting the attractions of tourist sites. \u00a0<br>\u201cFrom the start\u201d, says the artist, \u201cI am looking for a certain instability, a natural subject and a powerful feature in the landscape that will allow a figure to find its place in the territory.\u201d This work, then, is about nature, earth and even geology. In the thickness of the material, we can read the work of the spatula, the scraper. In their movement, we recognise the rotating, arbitrary, powerful gesture that makes the wave solid and the stone liquid. \u00a0<br>\u201cFor several years now I have been aware of a parallel between structural geology and the tensions and vibrations that I look for in painting\u201d, she adds. And it is true that there is a musicality, a choreography, in Wallon\u2019s paintings in which the material stretches and becomes fluid, where the composition plays with steep downward and upward views, where the gesture continues beyond the limits of the canvas. These are paintings with sound and movement.
